Synopsis:
Set in present day New York City, this film is a story of three lawyers, Marcellus Clarke, Diata Jefferson and Vance Dickson, who share close personal ties, and are thrust into the forefront of a legal precedent setting. Through circumstance, revelation and diligent examination, these lawyers and their research team find themselves trying the case in favor of slavery reparations. Their efforts respond to the need for people of African ancestry placed at social, psychological and economic disadvantage as a result of the infamous Trans-Atlantic slave trade and its perpetual institutional oppression, to be repaired as many others have been for similar historical wrongs.
Against all odds, and what many see as sound judgment, this legal team takes apart the legacy of enslavement and any social ramifications, leaving no stone unturned and dismissing no opinion in favor or against reparations in their analysis. With several twists and turns, even a little dissension within their ranks, they delve into all available data and come up with a case that is sure to inspire conversation and invoke thought. The journey, although arduous, is one that must be taken, and leaves these friends and the discussion around reparations, forever affected.
