 Global Online Networking Site

The Plan

The first attempt to employ a full feature set of linkable tools allowing people to make profiles, list their friends, create connections with others and make new connections by surfing the lists of others, was the Social Network Site (SNS) SixDegrees.com, which lasted from 1997 to 2000. Building on the limited functionality of dating sites and sites like Classmates.com that provided the ability to search the lists of other members, SNSs have grown in number and quality to the point where many other content sites, including corporate sites, are looking to model their sites in a similar profile-centric approach. Today, millions of people of all ages are members of at least one such SNS, and the trend is continuing to grow. At some point, the number of sites maintaining these profiles will dwindle, as users find it increasingly difficult to manage the content they uploaded to all of their accounts. Since many of these sites earn revenue from advertisements, rather than memberships, there will come a time when the drop off in membership growth and user visits will begin to signal a migration of users away from one SNS to one or more others. We see this potentially fluid membership and the existence of multiple member profiles on a variety of general and niche SNSs as an opportunity for a new Internet service designed as a tool to the profile builder, who is not only a site member, but a content creator. At the heart of Global Portal.com, is a content management engine which provides the member with the ability to keep track of all his or her creative content, on all SNSs, corporate sites, career sites, and even on local drives, and to employ that database of content to control access to each profile or identity. And that is only the beginning. With the ability to customize searches, test links, manage subscriptions, and define tags, expiration dates and other vital information about their content, Global Portal.com will become the jumping-off point to all SNS and business sites for its membership, and anyone who wants to meet, find, or do business with them. As the SNS phenomenon grows, with many millions of users, managing one’s profiles will become a necessity. Global Online Portal coming soon.
