Motivational Speaking Workshops
History
What we've done:
In 2001 Mental Food productions kicked off their motivational speaking program to assist in the summer youth job orientation in association with the Mayors office and Colgate Palmolive Power program initiative. This program was targeted to youngsters in the age range of 13-17 as they embarked on their summer job initiatives. Motivational speakers Kenneth Harris Jr. and Darryl Lee created a "Power of Poetry" workshop to frame the session to speak to the importance of various core principals that youngsters often embark on their summer workplace sites. The program which was created by the Mental Food team focused on the ideals of respect in the workplace, how to interview, communication, resume concepts, promptness, hygiene, attentiveness, discrimination and various other values. The partnership created by the Mayors Office and Colgate touched thousands of youngsters nationwide.
The City of East Orange and M.J. Peterson @ Mayor Bowser's office have been leaders in their communities with their ever evolving summer youth program initiatives. As a business partner we have collaborated for the last 5 years to focus on bringing true valuable information that can be applied in the day to day lives of youngsters. They are motivated by the programs and excited by the content.
P.O.W.E.R. is an 11-year partnership between Colgate-Palmolive and the Mayors office to support work and training for the city’s youth. Every year, Colgate-Palmolive will award a $10,000 grant to the youth programs in the respective cities and provide $10,000 in Colgate-Palmolive products and gifts for the program participants.
Through the P.O.W.E.R. initiative, the Colgate-Palmolive
Company has contributed more than $1.2 million in grants to youth employment
programs, which focus on education and career development. Mental Food ran work
preparedness workshops in the following targeted markets and as apart of the
program in:
